Expansion tanks of the RCTH****R, RCTH****L, RCTS****R series are an important element of all engineering systems in which the liquid heating process takes place. Expansion tanks are designed to compensate for the volume of coolant that expands during the heating process.

Expansion tank selection For the correct selection of the expansion tank, the following formula should be applied:

V=(KxVs)/(1-((Pi+1)/(Pf+1)), where:

V is the volume of the expansion tank, l;

K is the expansion coefficient of the coolant (Table 1 for water);

Vs is the volume of the system, l;

Pi is the pressure in the air chamber, bar;

Pf is the maximum coolant pressure in the system, bar.
